Welcome

Welcome to the glasspainting.co.uk web site.

We aim to provide all the information a UK glass painter could need, both on this site directly and by providing links to a wealth of other UK sites with relevant information. We welcome input from other interested people, please feel free to share ideas on the forum which is kindly looked after by craftville.com or suggest new links and contribute to the gallery. Any suggestions can be sent via contact us.

The site contains information for everyone, from the complete beginner to the professional. We hope it might even encourage more to take it up :-)

Glass Painting is currently one of the fastest growing crafts in the UK. You will find stands selling finished glass items at most of the larger craft fairs and there are a growing number of companies supplying the materials, paints and outliners needed in this craft. This site has links to both craft workers and companies. It will even be running a series of "tutorials" on the basic skills needed by the complete beginner.

Whilst this site will remain mainly a U.K. based one, we have started to accept submissions to the gallery from those living outside of the U.K., mainly due to the high standard of some of the work submitted. We will however remain a site about the type glasspainting using paints which DON'T have to be fired in a kiln, therefore making it available to just about everyone who who like a go.

This site is non-profit making and run by volunteers. Our small income comes from selling the craft books and by displaying various craft banners on the site. All the information given on glass paints, Outliners and glass painting materials is given with the best intent from our own (and others) experience. We are neither funded nor run by any company

Whilst Many people have contributed to the site I would like to mention the following in particular: Barry Freestone and Alan Gear from Alan and Barrys Crafts (formally Rainbow Glass) (http://www.alanandbarryscrafts.com). For their help and support, donation of prizes, use of photos etc.

Jim & Carolyn Tinkler from Mirror Art (http://www.mirror-art.co.uk). No only for the use of pictures but also for their friendship and support.

Finally I would like to thank Dave from CaftvilleDesign (http://www.craftvilledesign.com) for all his technical help especially with the gallery and the book section.

Christmas Items

Just found these clear plastic baubles which should be great for making some Christmas Decorations and a very good price at £2.99 for 12.

I have just ordered mine so will try and get a couple of projects done with them when they arrive.
